Programme of Talks ~ Winter 2015
Wednesday, January 14th at 7.45pm in the Jubilee Hall
Colin McShane will give an illustrated talk on The Water Birds of Belvide Reservoir one of the West Midland Bird Club reserves. Despite Belvide being far inland it attracts a number of sea birds. Colin is well known locally as an excellent and very knowledgeable speaker.  We should be in for a treat.
Wednesday, February 11th at 7.45pm in the Jubilee Hall
Far from the Western Front. Our local raconteur, Richard Field, recently travelled to Gallipoli to research the involvement of the Allied troops there during WW1, 100 years ago. The Gallipoli campaign at first a naval and then a military operation failed to break through the Dardanelles and by 1916 the Allies had to withdraw.
Wednesday, March 11th at 7.45pm in the Jubilee Hall
Shane Kelleher, archaeologist for the Ironbridge Museum, will talk about the Darby Houses, owned and lived in by the Darby family, Quaker Ironmasters. Shane, originally from Ireland, studied archaeology at York University, and then worked at Birmingham University before moving to Ironbridge 4 years ago as their resident archaeologist.
