Brewood Civic Society - Hanging Basket and Floral Container Competition 2013

Thursday, 21 November, 2013 - Modified on Saturday, 23 November, 2013 at 9:28 pm

This year the competition was most ably judged by Gaynor Bradley and Beryl Meyrick on Saturday 3rd August, when they were taken around the village by our Chairman, Bill Caffrey and both judges were duly impressed by the very high standard of the 50 entries in the competition.
Dobbies Garden World at Gailey, most generously sponsored the competition this year and they have kindly agreed to sponsor the competition again in 2014.
Arrangements were made with Lisa Bird, Community Champion at Dobbies Garden World, for her to present the prizes to the lucky winners in the Competition, which were in the form of vouchers to be spent during “Shopping Sprees” at their Garden Centre at Gailey.
Presentations have been made on 22nd October and 16th November when all the goods in the store were on offer and each of the winners could select any items in the Garden Centre to the value of their respective prizes.
Both days were greatly enjoyed by all concerned and the participants chose a wide range of items, including indoor and outdoor plants, compost, gloves, weed-killer, a selection of paint brushes, chocolates and Christmas wrapping paper.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to “Dobbies Garden World” for their considerable generosity in sponsoring the competition this year and especially to Lisa Bird for all her hard work in organising the “Shopping Sprees” which were so thoroughly enjoyed by all the prize-winners.
