Things to do in March

Friday, 01 March, 2013 - Modified on Friday, 01 March, 2013 at 12:13 am

As March prepares to breeze in to view, yet again there is lots to do across the Parish leading up to Easter.

For a full and comprehensive list visit our calendar - http://www.villagetimes.co.uk/things-to-do.htm?t=1362096000 but we’ve mapped out a few highlights below.

Special events –

There’s some ‘Soul in the Village’ on the first day of the month at Coven Memorial Hall with sounds going round from 8 til midnight.

Movie Time returns to the Jubilee Hall on Saturday 2nd March with ‘Quartet’ as the feature presentation. Why not walk away some cobwebs with Coven Ramblers who set off on their monthly walk on Sunday 3rd March with a visit to Acton Trussell.

If  that all sounds a little energetic there’s an afternoon of pampering at Coven Memorial Hall on Sunday 3rd for Ladies and Little Misses alike.

There’s a fantastic choice on 13th March. Brewood Bridge Day kicks off at Jubilee Hall with Coffee from 10.30am while in the evening the same venue hosts George Hook, the last man standing in Birmingham working with Mother of Pearl discussing his career and business.

Cementing Brewood’s place as the home of music, Brewood Acoustic Music club welcome BBC Radio 2 Folk award winner Lucy Ward to the Cricket Club on March 21st. A wonderful opportunity to see a young performer described as ‘Brit folk’s most vibrant and forthright new young talent’.

Around the pubs –

There’s no reason to rely on the TV to keep you occupied throughout March as there is lots on offer in our local hostelries.

At the Swan in Brewood it’s Quiz Night every Sunday and make sure to look out for their Open Mic night every last Thursday of the month.

At The Bridge Inn Friday Night is Music Night and there’s a great range of entertainment on offer throughout the month. In addition Monday Nights are Quiz Nights, it’s Cask & Curry on Tuesday and Steak Night on Wednesdays.

In Bishops Wood the Royal Oak hosts some great Music every Friday, there’s Poker every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday and Fish n Chips every Thursday. In addition the first Thursday of every month is Quiz Night too.

Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers –

There’s no doubt that in this Parish particularly the young folk have a remarkably active social life! Bouncing Bunnies run their ever popular sessions on Tuesday and Friday mornings and the Library is open for Storytime on Tuesday afternoon and Baby Bounce and Rhyme on Wednesday afternoon. All activities only take place during term time.

Elsewhere –

Why not ‘Knit and Mix’ on the third Wednesday of every month in The Mess? Or, you could keep fit and chat at ‘Walk & Talk’ every Friday morning. If you’re a little more serious about your fitness the men of Brewood keep in trim on Thursday nights.
